Ballard corners park

In the 1990’s Groundswell NW and the Ballard Open Space Coalition (BOSC) identified property at the corner of 17th Ave NW and NW 63rd as an acquisition opportunity as part of their Ballard/Crown Hill Open Space Inventory and Action Plan. With the help of the Seattle Parks Department and a Neighborhood Matching Fund Grant, the community brought this space into being. Barker Landscape Architects was chosen to design the park with the help of a rigorous community design process. Brenda joined the project during it’s design development phase and provided detailed design of the ‘Living Room’ and ‘Corner Store’ park features. These playful site features reference past uses of the site. The Living Room was featured in the Seattle Sketchers section of the Seattle Times, and won the 2011 Washington Aggregates and Concrete Association Artistic Merit Award.
