Weller st Residence meadow

Located within Seattle’s Atlantic neighborhood, just east of the International District, this garden renovation incorporates several intriguing design elements. The front yard and wide planting strip is currently under construction and will become a stylized meadow. The planting design combines drifts of cool and warm season ornamental grass species speckled with a collection of perennials such as echinacea, penstemon, campanula, aster and amsonia. A crushed rock pathway will provide access across the front of the yard. Design of the backyard incorporates space for a new enclosed deck and sauna, extended deck for dining, garden nook and patio for a BBQ, lighting design, a berry patch, and landscape screening from the houses up slope. Garden design is inspired by East Asian design aesthetics and includes a series of boulders and culturally significant plant species. Side yard plantings utilize an all native plant palette.
